It has been awhile since I last blogged or commented for that matter. So where did I go? Nowhere really. I wish I had somewhere exciting to talk about, but no. I was busy writing and decided to take a blog break.

Here is my entry from THE THINGS THAT ARE:
I jogged past the Rover keeping my face hidden in my hood and headed toward the cemetery. The clouds sucked in the last bit of blue sky and it immediately began to drizzle. Awesome. The harder it rained the faster I ran and the greater the fury grew inside me. It crept into the spaces between the hate and love I had for Griffin, singeing the two together. The incredible, pulsating burn pressed at my chest making it difficult to keep a steady breath so I ran faster hoping I could sweat him out of me. Sweat the obsessive thoughts of him that consumed my life out of every pore. I wanted him out. I wanted to free my mind from him. I wanted to free my heart from him. I wanted each raindrop to rinse away any remnants of him and leave me whole again.
I screamed and abruptly stopped sending my heart clashing against my chest. It was Griffin, standing at the top of the hill a few feet from the unmarked grave.
We stared at each other.
“You shouldn’t be out here,” He finally said.
“Huh. Well you shouldn’t be out here because I’m sure you have more important Devine things to take care of.” I pulled the strings tighter on my hood and ran past him.
“I’m sorry.”
“Famous last words.” I raised my head up yelling into the rain.
He ran up beside me.
“Brynn stop.” Hearing him say my name warmed my stomach like always, pissing me off more.
I ignored him and ran past the unmarked grave and along the rim of the hilltop. The muddy earth tugged at my feet making me suffer in his presence longer. He followed me until we reached the row of crumbling mausoleums and above ground tombs, the oldest part of the cemetery.
“Brynn.”
“What!” I shouted over the rain, finally turning to face him.
The sun had disappeared completely and the clouds were low blocking out any light from the moon but somehow he appeared illuminated. His eyes were darker than usual and his lips slightly parted as if he was going to say something but then they pressed back together.
“Thanks again.”
“I’m sorry.” He lightly grabbed my wrists, pulling me closer to him.
“You’re sorry?” I yanked my wrists away. “That fixes things? I really thought you were different Griffin. But you’re just a liar and a coward hiding behind all this,” I waved my hands over him, “gorgeousness. And I’m just some Natural girl in some small town and you’re set to rule some bullshit secret society. It’s all nonsense.”
I started to turn away but he snatched my wrists again, and pressed me hard against the wall of one of the mausoleums forcing his lips to mine. My entire body heated as a jolt of energy rushed through me. It was his energy, the Devine energy. I could feel it from the tips of my fingers to my toes, my body answering with a rush of trembles. He released his lips from mine and slid my hood off my head. I gazed up at him, the rain cooling my cheeks.
“I’m so sorry I did this too you, that I lied. I didn’t know this would happen. And I know this is against everything I was taught and I’m sure there will be severe consequences for it but I don’t care anymore.” He rubbed his thumb along my jawline and glanced up at the sky before continuing. “You are what I want, what I need. Not The Society.”
I hesitated. My lips were still tingling, my body still quivering and all I wanted to do was give myself to him. But I couldn’t. “No--no! I hate you!” I pushed him away from me. Well, I tried to push him away from me.
“No you don’t,” he whispered, sliding his hands up my shoulders and around my neck, pulling my lips to his once again.
Then gravity happened. The burning fire within me that had been longing to get out took hold and I surrendered to it. I tore at the buttons on his shirt, pressing my palms up his rippled stomach and razor sharp chest, the heat from his body stinging my wet, cold hands. I threw my arms around his neck and he lifted me up, my legs wrapping around his sides, his hands traveling around my hips. As he pulled our tangled bodies from the wall he kissed down my neck, his pouty lips leaving a trail of flames. He laid me down on top of the nearest tomb and climbed on top of me, ripping the strap of my tank top while he traced my collarbone with his tongue. I gripped the cement handle, barely able to control myself when his tongue found mine.
I always expected my first meaningful kiss to be like the movies. The gaze into the eyes, the awkward head tilt then the slow motion till the lips touched. It was definitely not like that. It was much better.
I finally opened my eyes as his teeth gently bit at my earlobe. A golden, rapidly pulsing light surrounded him. I took a deep breath, raising my chin to the night sky to get some air.
“Griffin—you are glowing,” I managed to say in between breaths.
He slowly released his hand laced in mine above my head and leaned back.
“So are you.”
I jerked my hand in front of my face and it was lightly shimmering in pale amber waves.
“How is that possible?”
He climbed off the tomb and helped me up.
“It’s from me.”
“Has that happened before?” I pulled my sleeves up to look at my arms.
“No—but nothing even remotely close to this has happened before.”
He latched his hands behind his head to hold his dripping hair back and paced in short lines in front of me, obviously disturbed. Slowly the light around him faded to darkness and my skin returned to its dull self.
